Full professional overview from my time entering the workforce to my current status
Current focus
I am currently dedicated to advancing my career as a System Engineer at https://www.taphere.com/, alongside pursuing a Master’s degree in Cloud Computing Systems at the University of Maryland Global Campus. This dual focus enhances my expertise and impact in the field.
Marine Corps
My time in the Marine Corps started when I was around seven years old, my mother, father, and grandmother would instill in me the important lessons of hard work and perseverance. I wouldn't join the Marines until I was 19 years shortly after high school.
My first assignment with the Marines after boot camp was at Stone Bay North Carolina! Where I met a great mentor and entered into the fleet. I quickly learned my job through trial and error and gained the support of my fellow Marines.
In my role as an Administrative Specialist, I made significant contributions to the success of our battalion's operations:
Leading Preparations for Commanding General’s Readiness Inspection: Instrumental in preparing the battalion's S-1 Section for its first Commanding General’s Readiness Inspection, achieving zero findings in all inspected areas and receiving commendation for my exceptional organizational skills.
Managing Special Duty Assignment and Proficiency Pay Program: Established and managed a crucial program overseeing pay and training for over 225 Special Operations Capabilities Specialists, ensuring 100% accountability and effective support for future missions.
Tracking and Processing Temporary Duty Orders: I successfully processed over 75 TAD orders and implemented an efficient tracking system for our personnel, both domestically and overseas, particularly those involved in Operation Enduring Freedom.
Innovating the Proficiency Pay Program: Developed and standardized a proficiency pay program for High Altitude Low Altitude (HALO) and Static Line Jumpers, creating a template that streamlined the process for Marines to receive their entitlements promptly.
Leadership Beyond Rank: Despite being junior in terms of time in grade and service, I demonstrated leadership qualities at the level of a noncommissioned officer, eagerly accepting and excelling in every challenge presented.
My dedication, innovative approach, and leadership during this period were key factors in my enthusiastic recommendation for the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. This experience reflects my commitment to excellence and my ability to lead and innovate in challenging environments.
NCO(supervisor)
I stepped into the managerial role with confidence and during my tenure as the Administrative Noncommissioned Officer, I played a pivotal role in the deployment and operational success of our unit in Afghanistan. My key contributions included:
Preparation for Deployment: Instrumental in administratively preparing 120 Marines, managing over 600 critical documents for Operation Enduring Freedom.
Travel Management: Efficiently processed and tracked over 520 travel orders and vouchers, ensuring seamless movement and financial reimbursement for Marines and Sailors.
Administrative Excellence: Managed and maintained the personnel status for over 450 individuals across four Afghan provinces. This included creating and tracking numerous rosters and records, a task equivalent to an Administrative Section Chief’s responsibilities.
Security Contribution: As the Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) of security badging, I managed the screening and tracking of 263 badged personnel, bolstering the safety and security of our camp.
My dedication, initiative, and administrative expertise significantly enhanced the company’s effectiveness, earning me an enthusiastic recommendation for the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. This period stands as a testament to my commitment to duty and ability to excel in challenging environments.
Staff Non-Commissioned Officer (Manager)
My tenure as Staff Sergeant in this period was marked by significant contributions and professional excellence:
Administrative Leadership: Exceptional support to over 155 Marines, both active and reserve, demonstrating superior knowledge in administrative matters. My role was instrumental in achieving the highest score for Battery I in the Marine Corps Administrative Analysis Team (MCAAT) Inspections.
Efficient Management of Travel and Orders: Unit Orders Writer, I managed 455 orders in the Marine Reserve Orders Writing System, amounting to over $230,000. Additionally, I handled over $130,000 in travel claims, enhancing the operational efficiency of our unit.
Toys for Tots Coordination: Regional Coordinator for the Toys for Tots program. I impacted the lives of over 96,000 children by raising $112,422 in monetary donations and distributing 183,381 toys. This initiative demonstrated my passion for community service and the positive influence of the Marine Corps spirit.
Funeral Honor Details: Participated in 66 funeral honor details, representing the Marine Corps with dignity and respect.
Recognition as NCO of the Quarter in 2018: Dedication and commitment to duty were recognized with the prestigious NCO of the Quarter award in 2018.
Program Management: Efficiently managed the MCRC Commander’s Attainment Report and the Prior Service Enlisted Program, ensuring strict compliance with Marine and Reserve Affairs and Headquarters Marine Corps directives.
Data Integrity and Reporting: Maintained detailed records and reports, safeguarding the integrity of personally identifiable information and adhering to all regulations.
Leadership and Development: Supervised and provided monthly counseling for NCOs and junior Marines, fostering professional growth and development within my team.
Operational Efficiency: I was responsible for tracking and managing various waivers and ensured the accountability of G-3 enlisted operations.
Training and Progress: My focus on training was evident as I gathered data for training statistics, ensured the proper training of the new PSEP chief, and facilitated the growth within the PSEP program.
System Enhancements: collaborated with the MCRC DBA to correct business rules for effective turnover and provided training for new DBA personnel.
Process Improvement: The remedy ticket liaison and Waiver Chief processed over 2,200 criteria waivers and 1,000 BUMEDs, significantly enhancing the command's tactical capability.
Multi-faceted Expertise: Ability to multitask and assist multiple sections beyond enlisted operations made me an integral member of the MCRC team.
In my role as Staff Sergeant, I was driven by a commitment to excellence, reflected in a range of initiatives that improved operational efficiencies and enhanced the welfare of the Marines under my leadership. My approach was always to lead by example, demonstrating perseverance and an unwavering dedication to duty.
This ethos did not go unrecognized. I was honored with a Certificate of Appreciation for my service, and I consistently received recommendations for promotion and increased responsibilities. My peers and superiors saw in me not just a leader, but a reliable advocate for progress and excellence within the Corps.
